- Additional Info: Last name may also be spelled "Massey." During the 1720 session of the Assembly, New Kent County was represented by John Stanup and Nicholas Meriwether. Stanup died prior to the opening of the May 9, 1722 session. Nicholas Meriwether was elected a member of the House for the new county of Hanover, which had been formed from New Kent. A new election was called in New Kent, which resulted in the return of John Thornton &Thomas Massey.
