  • Additional Info: 1752-1755 Assembly- Halifax became a county on May 10, 1752; and was first represented during the 1753 session.
    On December 4, 1753, a petition by John Bates, complaining of an undue election and return of George Currie to serve as a burgess in this Assembly for Halifax county was presented to the house and read.
    George Currie was not qualified to serve in the House; John Bates was elected to succeed him.
