  • Bio Information: PETER RANDOLPH of Chatsworth, in Henrico County, was born on 20 October 1717 to William Randolph II and Elizabeth Beverley Randolph at Turkey Island. Educated at the College of William and Mary, Randolph was a justice of the peace of Henrico County. Randolph was clerk of the House of Burgesses from 22 May 1740 until April 1749, when he resigned so that Henrico County could elect him to succeed his deceased uncle Richard Randolph, of Curles, in the House. Randolph in 1749 was appointed surveyor general of customs, and on 13 December 1749 he was sworn to the Council, where he actively served until months before his death on 8 July 1767.
