  • Bio Information: CHARLES NORWOOD was born before 1616, the son of Henry Norwood, of Somerset. He probably came to Virginia about 1649, and he was clerk of the House of Burgesses from 1654 to 1656. In the 1660s Norwood was a captain in the English army in Tangier commanded by his brother, Colonel Henry Norwood, and in 1681 he was usher and keeper of the council chamber in Ireland. He died after 1689.
